Erikson's Theory of Psychosocial Development
Stage 5 Identity vs Confusion:
At this stage, adolescents are in search of an identity that will lead them to adulthood. Adolescents make a strong effort to answer the question "Who am I?". Erikson notes the healthy resolution of earlier conflicts can now serve as a foundation for the search for an identity. The adolescent must make a conscious search for identity. This is built on the outcome and resolution to conflict in earlier stages. If the adolescent can not make deliberate decisions and choices, especially about vocation, sexual orientation, and life in general, role confusion becomes a threat.
Evidently, i'm still stuck in this stage, destined never to completely move on to stage 6 of Intimacy vs Isolation(where the crisis here is love and intimate relationships, and starts after 18 years of age).
This is so aggravating. And yes, this however saddening, was part of 2 modules that i took, which makes me even more aware of it. =(
I cannot for my life apprehend and comprehend fake people. Fuck off.
