Irrational Applause

Russian Ballet was good. Nice repertoire, for someone like me who's hardcore and all things classic and Russian(as per ballet). My favourite Sleeping Beauty grand PDD, 2 Balanchine numbers, La Sylphide PDD, Don Q PDD, La Bayadere PDD, Spartacus etc. No modern pieces!!!

My gosh. The 2 dancers in La Sylphide can really JUMP. Damn it. I was like holding my breath when the guy was doing his beats and tour en l'airs! It's so difficult with the arms in bras bas, but he did it so well!!! I'm in awe! The sylph could jump really high too!!!

I didn't think the Bolshoi principals were damn good. Mediocre for such a high status in such a prestigious company. But boy, the guy did a breath-taking lift of Kitri in Don Q!!! Twice!!! You could hear the 'oooooohs' and 'aaaaaahs' and some applause. However he did make my heart skip a beat twice because i seriously thought he was gonna fall hard on his ass doing some weird jump(you know the show-off kind of switch leap+cabriole all rojak into one until i can't make it out)! He was so off-centre, and we were looking from an awkward angle too i guess.

I'M SO IRKED AND AGGRAVATED!

Why? Uneducated and ignorant applause. I mentioned that i was appalled at how the audience clapped after 8 or more fouettes. It was worse today! They started clapping at 5!!! What the fuck! They clapped at everything. At fouettes, and the men's manege jete en tournant and barrel jumps, at the women's turns on manege, at the lifts. 0.o It doesn't help that like every other piece has one or more of these. Like duh. These are classic pas de deux which will have these essential components! How embarrassing it is for Singapore to have such dumb audiences. And count on those few catalysts to start clapping. OMG. And for one, they didn't applause for the italian fouettes. I think italian fouettes are a bigger feat than normal fouette en tournant anyway. Super hard...

Oh and just to mention, of the 32 fouettes of Odile, Kitri, both didn't even hit 30, though there were some doubles and triples thrown in. Sad.

I'm gonna start bashing someone when i watch it tomorrow again ok. Hopefully the audience will be more mature, and not clap at every minor thing. Aargh.
