Something about English bothers me VERY MUCH. Why?! Why is that when i learn it good and hard that something is supposed to be so, it always turns out (commercially) to be actually the wrong way, which was really status quo for me hitherto getting corrected time and time again that it is not? (Ok sorry for the run-on line) I mean:
Steph: "My family and me..."
Teacher: "It's 'my family AND I'"
Steph(on paper): "I learned that..."
Teacher(with a red sp? on the paper): LEARNT
Ok. Uh-huh. After a few naggings and red marks,i've learnt my lesson. Oh and that was in primary school.
But everywhere i go, all i ever see or hear is:
"_____ and ME" or "________ learned..."
Can someone enlighten me on whether the rules of grammer has changed since i left school? I. DON'T. GET. IT. I don't understand why! And now i'm convinced that i have imagining all those corrections and things that i've learnt in school. In books and novels, and even newspaper columns do i see such stuff.
So i suppose i am wrong. Am i not???
