I LOVE OBRAZTSOVA!!!

Obraztsova and Fadeyev in R&J

International Ballet Gala:

Evgenia Obraztsova was the saving grace of the show. Even the critically acclaimed Irina and Max didn't live up to standards. At least mine. Irina and Max were trained Russian dancers, but they're now dancing in ABT as principals; ain't a fan of American ballet really. So their style was peculiar, especially when they did both the White and Black pas de deux from Swan Lake... Irina's lines as Odette/Odile weren't as nice as it should be, and i definitely feel Max wasn't that great a Siegfried. I personally would prefer Malakhov, Stiefel(even if he's American) or Ruzimatov. The rest weren't that great, but i enjoyed Le Corsaire Slave pas de deux. Reminded me of Kirov's version. :) Also enjoyed the Adagio from Notre Dame de Paris...

Obraztsova danced in Romeo and Juliet pas de deux- something she's known for(you can find all about it on the net). She was SO GOOD!!! And Prokofiev's music is oh-so-nice!!! (I like Tchaikovsky's R&J too, but this is so 'heartwarming'.) She also did Giselle Act 2 pas de deux(which they didn't do during last year's Russian Ballet gala), which is another of my favourite PDD/variation. OMFG. I'm in love with Evgenia!!! So glad that i can watch her live in SG on a few occasions already! ;)

The rest were so-so... Was falling asleep because i was really damn shagged... My $111 spent was justified only cos' of Evgenia, really. The rest were just disappointing(except for a couple). The audience was BULL. Clapping after like 2 cabrioles(not even double cabrioles!), or after 2 sets of brise vole etc. I was *hand to forehead* on a few occasions. So embarrassing to be a S'porean ok!!! *shudder*
