Transaminitis again!

Saw my rheumy after 3 looooooong months. Apparently she called me on Monday, but because the number was the hospital's main line, i didn't know who to return the call.

Was 1/2 hour late even after spending $15 taking the cab, and rheumy wasn't even in the clinic yet. 0.o Anyhow, my ALT skyrocketed AGAIN and this time, it's 10x the normal limit. It's 528 now, compared to the normal 50, and last year's increase at 299. *hmph*

Rheumy was really nice today(but she usually is too anyway) and i was totally honest with her that the raised ALT was puzzling because i have been defaulting on my SSZ and plaquenil for about 2 weeks already. And it's lucky i haven't taken this week's MTX. The real mystery is why my liver is inflamed again even though my doses haven't been changed since many months ago. Last year's episode occured with Leflunomide and that's understandable. But we don't know what might be causing this. Thing is, both MTX and SSZ can cause it and we can't pin-point. *hmm*

So the plan for now is to stop MTX and SSZ and do LFTs again in 3 weeks. Both SSZ and MTX have worked very well in controlling my RA, though SSZ took more than 6 months with 6 pills a day to gain a hold in my body. I hope the vicious cycle won't start again!!! I'd be very miserable if it does!

Woe is my liver!
